The season of Lent provides the last and most intense preparation for the elect in their journey to the paschal mysteries at the Vigil of Easter. Music for Lent II continues the preparation for Easter with music chosen with the scriptural readings of the Lectionary for Cycle A (those used for the RCIA) in mind, allowing the themes for Lent to be taken home in a musical way. Using the Gospel lessons for each Sunday as a focus, Music for Lent II is the ideal tool for catechist and elect alike, providing much needed musical reflection on the themes of enlightenment, conversion, and resurrection. Four types of music are represented: Gregorian chant, Renaissance polyphony, hymns and metrical psalms, and texts taken from the Byzantine daily office specially set for this collection.
