Rev. Beals is the author of Beyond Hunger: A Biblical Mandate for Social Responsibility, which was awarded the Gold Medallion Book Award by the Evangelical Christian Literature Association in 1986. He has served as pastor in churches in Oregon, Washington State, and in Manila, Philippines. Beals is founder of World Concern International, which funds ministries of partnership in some of the world's poorest areas. He serves currently as a consultant and Partnership Facilitator to the PCUSA Worldwide Ministries Division.
