Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, for all people
according to their needs:
Sovereign Lord, your majesty is beyond comparison. Your power is awesome.
Yet you choose ordinary people to tell the world about your love. When our
words become confused and our efforts become overbearing and offensive to
others, draw us back to you. Teach us your compassion. You alone make us
worthy to serve you. We await your sending. Lord, in your mercy, hear our
prayer. (Isaiah 6:1-8)
Ruler of the world, you command the nations, the oceans, the sky and all
peoples. You are enthroned forever. While this worlds tyrants rage, we
pray for peace. By your almighty power, bring an end to wars. Make
conflict cease. Inspire us to live together in love. Lord, in your mercy,
hear our prayer. (Psalm 29)
Gracious God, in your mercy you have claimed us as your children. We are
faced with temptation every day. We fear the world. We cry out in pain
when we forget your constant presence in our lives. Remind us that we are
heirs with Christ of the most precious gift of all, eternal life in you.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Romans 8:12-17)
Eternal Savior, by daylight and at night you move among us to save us and
give us new life. Comfort these, your children, who need to know your
presence:
Are there others we should include in our prayers?
For all of these: for the homeless and the hungry, for the abused and the
abuser, for the addicted and mentally ill, for all who are afraid we pray.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. (John 3:1-17)
Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your
mercy; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
