Prayers for Worship

Pastor: For all those who, like Mary, are poor, lowly, oppressed and vulnerable, we pray to the Lord
People: Lord, hear our prayer.
Pastor: For all those who, like Mary and Joseph, have been displaced from their homes by principalities and powers, we pray to the Lord
People: Lord, hear our prayer.
Pastor: For all those who, like the innkeeper, have no room in their lives for you, we pray to the Lord
People: Lord, hear our prayer.
Pastor: For all those, who like the shepherds, work hard for a living and run to share good news of your birth with all they meet, we pray to the Lord
People: Lord, hear our prayer.
Pastor: For all those who, like the magi, have wealth, influence and power, but seek one whom they can worship, we pray to the Lord
People: Lord, hear our prayer.
Pastor: For all those, like Herod, are hard-hearted and threatened by the birth of a new king who would rule their lives, we pray to the Lord
People: Lord, hear our prayer.
Pastor: For all those who, like the soldiers sent to Bethlehem, find themselves doing horrible things at the command of their leaders, we pray to the Lord
People: Lord, hear our prayer.
Pastor: For all those who, like the families of the innocents, mourn the murder of one they love, we pray to the Lord
People: Lord, hear our prayer.
Pastor: For all those who, like Simeon, are ready to depart this life in peace, we pray to the Lord
People: Lord, hear our prayer.
Pastor: For all the nameless who, like the nameless of old, are hungry, cold, lost, lonely, sick, and in any other way desperate for your coming, we pray to the Lord
People: Lord, hear our prayer.
Pastor: Lord, hear our prayers, both spoken and silent, for we pray as you taught us:
