Prayer for the Storms

Teach me, calming Spirit, to find the quiet place
where I may settle into your peace,
where I may draw from you
an enduring confidence that all shall be well.

Turn my eyes from the things I fear
to the strong presence of your abiding love.
Grab hold of me when I struggle,
and calm me down!
Whenever I sail into those dangerous waters 
that seem too deep for me,
awaken my heart to know that
you are in the boat with me.

And always, when the clouds bloom with rain
and the lightning flashes across my soul,
Lord, be the stillness in my storm.
Amen.
