A
discussion and/or video about bullying for adults and children might follow
worship today.
With Children
The
story of David and Goliath is a classic tale relating to the marginalization of
children and youth in society. This could be an opportunity to consider the
problem of bullying. There is also an opening for discussions with older
children about just war theories. (Or you might use this as a sermon topic,
e.g., Goliath defied the armies of the living God.)
Sermon Starter
(focus on 2 Corinthians 6:113)
This is a call to
vulnerability in a materialistic age. Paul writes of suffering as the faithful
live out love with righteousness. They function with a confidence in the power
of God. Where do we find the following?
- honour and dishonour
- ill repute and good
repute
-
sorrow and joy
What
does it mean for us to have nothing and yet possess everything?
